1) Purchase either plain clear tea light holders or frosted glass candle holders for your event. Clear glass will reflect the fiery light of the candles and add a warm golden glow to your tables. Frosted glass will give off a softer, whiter cast to your reception decor. You can go for simple, cheap holders from a craft store or you can purchase more elaborate designs from a wedding favor company. Either way, know that less of a design is more as you want the candlelight to me your main focus - not the design on the candles.

2) For your reception centerpieces, select romantic flowers. Small short silver vases filled with red roses would be the typical and ideal mood-setter. But for a non-traditional and more glamorous appeal you can gather craft branches in white and insert them into a tall clear cylinder and fill with clear gems. The branches can then be adorned with miniature white lights or dangling crystals which will reflect the candlelight.

6) Give a romantic candle wedding favor to each of your guests so that they too can bring a touch of romance home with them. You could also give each guest a book of personalized matches along with the candle favor.

7) Remember to keep the lighting of the venue dim. The less direct light, the more romantic the location. If there is a fireplace in the location, make sure that is lit as well. Also be sure to speak to the DJ or Band and inform them of your decor. Perhaps you can have dim lights for your entrance and dinner, followed by a more upbeat lighting scheme for after dinner dancing.

9) Finally, check with your venue and make sure that you can light candles within. Some venues do not allow candles to be lit due to fire codes and other locations may allow it. Before starting to plan such a wondrous event make sure it can be created just the way you want it!
